EMVCo publishes worldwide EMV® deployment statistics to provide the payments industry with a transparent view of global chip adoption. These figures, updated annually and reported by EMVCo’s member organisations — American Express, Discover Network, JCB, Mastercard, UnionPay, and Visa — reflect the continued growth of secure, interoperable payments.
The statistics below, most recently reported as of Q4 2025, show the percentage of card-present transactions that are EMV. The reported data represents the most accurate possible data that could be obtained by American Express, Discover Network, JCB, Mastercard, UnionPay, and Visa. It should be noted that, globally, 97% of card-based transactions are EMV Chip.
Note that the data reported is for a twelve-month period. In regions where EMV is newly deployed and/or being actively rolled out, the twelve-month reporting figure may lag or under-represent the current transaction percentage.
