Troy Bernard - Discover

Troy Bernard is a member of the EMVCo Board of Managers, representing Discover.

Within Discover, Troy is Director of Products and Innovation. In this role, he is responsible for leading product development and go-to-market strategy.  Troy works with many of Discover’s emerging payments partners.  

In previous roles, Troy created Discover’s Chip Center of Excellence, managed the D-PAS EMV product, and was one of the founding team members that created and launched the Zip® contactless payment application.  

Troy is a 15-year payments industry veteran and is a graduate of the University of Rochester (NY-USA).

 


Robert Burns - American Express

Robert Burns is a member of the EMVCo Board of Managers, representing American Express.

Within American Express, Robert is the Director of Technical Architecture of Global Advanced Payments Technologies. In this role he is responsible for EMV and related chip based advanced payments products, technical specifications, standards and architecture. His team also designs and supports chip product compliance testing procedures and new chip product developments and deployments. He has been involved in the area of chip technology for payment products for the past 15 years.

Robert graduated in the UK and has a Bachelor of Science from the University of Leicester and a Master's from the University of Leeds.


Kuan Chen - JCB

Kuan Chen is a member of the EMVCo Board of Managers, representing JCB Co., Ltd.

Within JCB, Kuan is Vice President of Brand Infrastructure & Technology, with specific expertise and a focus on product strategy and technology. Within the organisation Kuan is responsible for activities relating to chip standardisation, specification and product compliance.

Kuan graduated with a Bachelor's degree in engineering from Vanderbilt University in the USA.

 


Sean Conroy - American Express

Sean Conroy is the Chair of the EMVCo Board of Managers, representing American Express.

Sean currently serves as Director of Chip Standards within the Global Network Business at American Express. He is responsible for American Express’ representation on chip related industry bodies including EMVCo. Sean has played a lead role within American Express EMV chip program delivery and emerging payments standards development since 2002. During 2012, he was a key contributor in creating the American Express EMV strategy for the US market. He is well known within the payment industry, previously chairing the Board of Managers for EMVCo as well as representing American Express at industry forums such as Cartes and the US EMV Migration Forum.

Sean graduated with both Bachelor's and Master's degrees from St. John's University in New York, USA.

Arnaud du Chéné - MasterCard

Arnaud du Chéné is a member of the EMVCo Board of Managers, representing MasterCard Worldwide. He also acts as Chair for EMVCo's Terminal Approval Working Group.

Arnaud is VP, Head of Product Quality within Global Chip & Contactless Solutions at MasterCard Worldwide. He leads the MasterCard global quality assurance and approval strategy and is responsible for the operational approval process for contact, contactless cards and terminals, and mobile products. His team supports the key industry players, during their development and approval process.

In addition to serving as Chair of EMVCo's Terminal Approval Working Group, Arnaud also contributes to the Card Approval and Interoperability Working Groups. Arnaud brings with him 25 years' experience in chip cards and emerging technology.

Arnaud graduated from University of California, Los Angeles, USA.


Christian Delporte - MasterCard

Christian Delporte is a member of the EMVCo Board of Managers, representing MasterCard Worldwide. He also serves on the EMVCo Executive Committee.

Christian is Head of Standards & Integration, EMV & Digital Devices - Digital Platforms at MasterCard Worldwide and is responsible for the development of specifications, standards alignment and market readiness. He represents MasterCard in a number of international organisations.

Christian graduated from the Les Facultés Universitaires Catholiques de Mons (FUCAM) in Belgium.


Thomas Horton - Discover

Tom Horton is a member of the EMVCo Board of Managers, representing Discover.

Within Discover, Tom is a Senior Business Leader in Advanced Payments Technology. He is responsible for Discover’s representation on chip-related industry bodies including EMVCo, NFC Forum, OSCar and GlobalPlatform. With 15 years’ experience in the area of chip technology for payment products, Tom was one of the designers of the Intel 286 microprocessor as well as one of Honeywell Bull’s first smart-card microchips.  He has lived and worked extensively in Europe and Asia and held various positions at Visa, MasterCard Europe and Hitachi.

Tom has a Master of Science degree in Industrial Technology from Eastern Kentucky University and has completed further postgraduate studies at Stanford University.

 


Christina Hulka - Visa Inc.

Christina Hulka is a member of the EMVCo Board of Managers, representing Visa.

Christina currently serves as Head of Chip Operations and Analytics. Within this role Christina is responsible for Visa Inc.'s global chip interoperability programs, issues management and data analysis. She also provides support for US implementation activities. Christina has been involved with the development and management of Visa's smart card-based products for the past 13 years.

Christina graduated from Oxford Brookes University in Oxford, England.


Marc Kekicheff - Visa

Marc Kekicheff is a member of the Marc Kekicheff is a member of the EMVCo Board of Managers, representing Visa Inc. He also acts as Chair for EMVCo's Next Generation Task Force.

Marc currently serves as Senior Director of Chip Innovation at Visa Inc. and is responsible for Visa Inc.'s smart card technology development and compliance worldwide, covering contact and contactless cards and terminals as well as mobile handsets. A highly regarded smart card expert worldwide, Marc has authored several patents, is well acquainted with IT security and frequently addresses the industry through high profile speaking engagements. Throughout his career he has been a driving force in the development of global smart card technology, worldwide standards and compliance programs. Additionally, Marc currently sits on the GlobalPlatform Board of Directors and serves as Chairman.

Marc graduated with a Masters Degree in Econometrics (applied math to economics).  


Junya Tanaka - JCB

Junya Tanaka is a member of the EMVCo Board of Managers and a member of the EMVCo Executive Committee, representing JCB Co., Ltd.  He also acts as Chair for the Interoperability Working Group.

Within JCB, Junya is Senior Vice President of Brand Infrastructure & Technology Department of JCB, and is currently focused on strategy planning and establishing vendor relationships. Junya's main responsibility is to expand the products compliant with J/Smart(TM), JCB's smart card program, including chip, cards, and issuing systems.

Junya graduated from Keio University in Tokyo, Japan.


LI Wei - UnionPay

Li Wei is a member of the EMVCo Board of Managers, representing China UnionPay Co., Ltd. He also serves on the EMVCo Executive Committee.

Li is Assistant General Manager of the Technology Management Department at UnionPay. He is responsible for the development and implementation of technical standards as well as the operation of the department. Li’s team establishes and maintains payment specifications, develops new technologies and provides related solutions.

Li graduated with a Masters Degree in Automatic Control Information Systems Management.

 


Hongliang Xu - UnionPay

Hongliang Xu is a member of the EMVCo Board of Managers, representing China UnionPay Co., Ltd.

Within China UnionPay, Hongliang is Assistant General Manager of the Operations Support Team of UnionPay International. Hongliang’s team focuses on operating regulations, security and operation support for international businesses. Hongliang’s main area of responsibility is to enhance operating regulations and specifications, and support overseas business and product expansion.

Hongliang graduated in China and has a Bachelor of Economics from Xia Men University and a Master of Finance from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics.
